960H CCTV What does it mean

Hi CCTV Followers

960H is now the talk in the analogue world of CCTV as the traditional method on coaxial cable installation has just stepped up to a newer affordable level. The traditional format being D1 which is 720x570 resolution has been the standard for CCTV for many years with variable compression methods such as MPEG4 & Then H.264. Analogue cameras have also progressed through the years as the line rates have been steadily getting higher ranging from 380TVL to 700TVL and now 800TVL being what is called 960H resolution.

A Known fact that I would like to share with you the reader is the D1 DVR Recorder being made with 720x576 resolution will only submit cameras up to 550TVL resolution please be aware that most D1 DVR`s will not be able to go above this resolution and if you see cameras being sold above 550TVLas a pack with a D1 DVR then you will not get the full image clarity you think you are getting.

What is 960H and what does it mean let me explain 960H is the name given to a series of CCD image
sensors developed by the Sony corporation in 2009. These CCD image sensors are capable of capturing Video resolution of 976x628 resolution therefore cameras with a liner rate from 700-800TVL will be better image quality compared to the old D1 resolution cameras. 960H Camera Technology will only see the full benefits when you use a 960H cameras with your new 960H DVR. Let’s think about this scenario why would you buy the latest cameras and not utilise this technology with the recommended DVR. Let’s face it would you use a small Mini car to tow a huge caravan that pretty well sums it up.

More benefits of 960H technology is that being in the next step up in analogue technology it is more affordable to the general public compared to the latest digital technology. You can also keep the existing coaxial cable structure and just swap out the cameras and DVR utilizing 960H which has a much smoother and user friendly recording. It might be wise to also up your Hard Drive storage as the higher the recording resolution the more space it will take. Please also be aware that there is a lot of fake camera manufacturers out there claiming that they make 960H cameras but are in fact only D1 cameras.

Cheap CCTV it`s a race to the bottom

Hi Everybody

I hear you asking there is so many systems out there how do I make a decision on what`s best for me. What is becoming more relevant in todays society is the amount of equipment that is available on the internet from EBay to price comparing websites which are popping up more and more as the digital economy evolves. First of all the most important advice I want to give you is that in regards to CCTV is that cheap systems are exactly that they are cheap if you want to only be absolutely concerned about price then you will get what you pay for which is often more trouble than what it`s worth as far as I am concerned if you are only worried about price then it is a race to the bottom and here are the reasons why.

1. Cheap electronics means Lower grade compression and playback as the components used are second rate.
2. Cheap electronics will break down it is only a matter of time
3. Inferior electronics tend to get hot and can possibly catch fire.
4. Back up support for low end product is often low end support
5. Facial recognition well what facial recognition
6. Low grade software means difficult usage of the product.
7. Low end DVR recorders will lock up due to heat problems as well as software difficulties.
8. Hard drives will tend to fail
9. Power supplies will often fail
10. Cheap Power supplies are usually illegal to use in Australia.
11. Low End product usually from China is not regulated to enter Australia and therefore is Illegal to use.

These are some of the reasons why you should not consider lower end product when it comes to CCTV.

Through my experience and that's nearly 8 years in the industry I have sold and managed up to 200 Security Systems. In the beginning of my career all I wanted to do was sell cheap to keep everyone happy but then the headaches began. It was only a matter of time and the disgruntled customers started contacting me as CCTV systems started freezing and locking up cameras stopped working the playback footage on the DVR`s did not see very well. In the end after all these experiences I vowed to myself I would never ever sell cheap electronics anymore. I believe that you the customer should think carefully and do some questioning and research when wanting to install a Surveillance system another factor is that low grade footage will not be accepted by law enforcement in fact it is known in the industry that they will laugh at such low grade footage when it is presented to them. If you are truly serious about implementing a Surveillance System then Quality at a reasonable price is what our companies philosophy represents.

CCTVAustralia was founded on the principal of alleviating costs with quality product performance. Our company invests in the very latest surveillance technologies therefore we are not a price compare website or EBay trader as our product goal is for long term functionality. As a company we are concerned with the amount of illegal faulty equipment that is now flooding the market as well as lack of regulation on such product. It is law in Australia to regulate and approve electronics that enter the market but due to lack of policing because of reduction of government funding to customs this can not be enforced so you the customer when importing in a cheap system is at risk of fire damage and electrical faults at your premises or building. Your insurance company will not cover unregulated electronic products if they cause damage so I say good luck if you decide to take that chance.

New Generation PTZ Cameras

Hi All

Our company has been testing the latest range of PTZ Cameras as of late for what we can tell you is that this new range of PTZ cameras are long overdue as in previous times PTZ cameras would not see well at night and needed plenty of lighting.

The latest range of PTZ have now incorporated more advanced menu functions such as WDR and for those of you who don't know what WDR is it stands for Wide Dynamic Range. This function gives the camera the capability to stop sunlight glare and shadow darkness at doorways and other areas. Not all the current PTZ cameras have this function as this is mainly in the Megapixel range that we have seen. The latest PTZ cameras also have 360 Degree rotation and the Infra Red Night Vision using the latest IR technology to see depending which camera you get up to 150 Metres at night.

PTZ cameras have there positives and negatives as you can utilise them to see many areas at once the negative is that while it is seeing one area something can happen in another area so how do you solve this problem I hear you ask. The PTZ camera will have a Pre-Set Tour capability and when we set the tour we can speed up this tour to cover the areas intended more quickly but also it does not hurt to have static cameras in other locations where you feel they are needed most. The big positive of using the latest PTZ cameras are that the customer can control the PTZ zoom in and out not just during the day but also now at night and get facial recognition and the Night Vision will surprise you.

The classical use of these modern PTZ cameras are in open areas known for unwanted activity. Currently we offer in this technology 600TVL analogue and 1.3 & 2 Megapixel IP Digital. For more technical advice or you are thinking about covering certain large areas contact us on  08 7325 3100 and we will be happy to assist Our company will quote Australia Wide.

Installation Cabling

Hi to All CCTV enthusiast

Today I would like to discuss our companies philosophy in regards to how important cabling is to CCTV Installation. In recent times I have noticed poor cabling standards which can cause numerous problems with camera Transmission.

Problems that can arise are

1. Ghosting of images this is a hallow effect that double the image in the background
2. Rolling bars across the screen caused by not segregating your cable from electrical cabling.
3. Flickering on the screen is caused from poor termination connections
4. Cut and shut cables from camera to power supply causes a degradation of signal e.g lack of colour
5. Wrong cable being used can also reduce picture quality
6. Star wiring of power to CCTV cameras will cause many problems such as above
7. Cheap unregulated Power Supplies can cause interference and a rolling effect.
8. Unlicensed cablers well they are unlicensed so that explains it all.

Every now and then we are contacted to help a customer fix up there cabling woes and it is not always their fault. The reason I am writing this is to make the customer more aware that to take short cuts with unprofessional installers will bite you in the end so you really should invest wisely with a licensed cable installer. I want customers to be aware that I have come across many accounts of customers using unlicensed cablers making all the promises in the world but when nothing works they disappear.

In Australia a Security cabler has to have a Security Cabling License your local electrician is usually not licensed to be a Security Cabler even though many electricians claim they are. Security Cabling and electrical cabling are completely two different systems of cabling and need different methods to ensure proper picture quality of CCTV.

Well i hope this advice will help future clientelle make the appropriate decisions when considering a professional CCTV system I think this knowledge will help you understand the importance of proper cabling standards
